WHAT’S ON

Adapted from Notes from a Small Island by Bill Bryson, this warm, witty stage version by Tim Whitnall follows Bryson’s hilarious and heartfelt journey across Britain.

Arriving in Dover in 1973 as a curious American traveler, Bryson sets out to explore the length and breadth of the UK. Along the way, he encounters a wonderfully eccentric cast of characters, from quirky landladies to unforgettable locals, while navigating the quirks, customs, and contradictions of British life. As his journey unfolds, what begins as an outsider’s adventure gradually becomes something more personal—an affectionate discovery of a place he comes to call home.

Spanning decades, locations, and dozens of colourful characters, this lively and imaginative adaptation celebrates the humour, charm, and enduring spirit of Britain—offering a nostalgic, laugh-out-loud tribute to the nation’s identity and its people.
