We are thrilled to announce that continuing our successful run of bringing Broadway\/West-end theatre shows to the borough, our next production will be HARVEY by Mary Chase.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mary Chase introduced HARVEY to the world originally\nin 1944. It was a huge success and in 1945, it received the Pulitzer Prize for\nDrama. The play ran for 5 years on Broadway and was also enjoyed by audiences\nin London\u2019s West End when the show came to the Prince of Wales Theatre in 1949.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many who have seen the movie produced in 1950, will\nrecall the unbeatable portrayal of Elwood. P Dowd by American Actor, James\nStewart \u2013 one of the most honoured and popular stars in film history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

James Stewart even revisited the part some 25 years\nafter later, playing Elwood again in the West-End revival at the Prince of\nWales Theatre in 1975. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those of you unfamiliar with the film or play,\nit tells the tale of Elwood P. Dowd – a gentle but wealthy drunk and his extraordinary\nfriendship\u2026 with a 6ft tall invisible rabbit who he introduces to everyone,\nmuch to the chagrin of his poor sister Veta and his niece, Myrtle Mae. After\nall\u2026 she has a family reputation to uphold.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It portrays the trials and tribulations of their journey\nto try and gain some normalcy in their lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

HARVEY is the last production of our programme for\n2019 to be performed at The Alexandra Hall on Bramshot Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The play will open on Wednesday 23rd<\/sup> October<\/strong> for 4 nights only and we hope to open\nthe box office towards the end of September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
