CAST ANNOUNCED FOR ‘THE DEEP BLUE SEA’

What an exciting casting audition we had last Wednesday evening! Members – old and new, were thrown in to the deep (blue sea) end quite literally as the productions Director, Louise Gaul subjected those auditioning to 2 hours of scene reenactment in a bid to find her excellent eight.

After posting a call-out across social media and placing a listing on the Starnow talent website, we finally found two male actors to fill the roles of Freddie Page and Jackie Jackson – one a familiar face for anyone who came to see BLACK COMEDY back in the Summer.

So, without greater ado, we can now reveal who will be bringing to life the frustrated and tormented characters in this much admired, torturous love story by Sir Terence Rattigan.

CAST

HESTER COLLYER – Juliette Harrison
PHILIP WELCH – Mark Higgins
ANN WELCH – Alex Parker

SIR WILLIAM COLLYER – Keith Hartley
MR MILLER – Roy Moore
FREDDIE PAGE – Sam Moore
JACKIE JACKSON – Hereward Cruttwell Reade

THE DEEP BLUE SEA by Sir Terence Rattigan was first performed in 1952 at the Duchess Theatre in London. Kenneth More appeared on stage as Freddie Page and later reprised the role for the movie version in 1955 which also starred Vivien Leigh as Hester.

In 2011, the play was once again remade for cinema audiences. Directed by Terence Davies, it featured Rachel Weisz, Tom Hiddleston and Simon Russell Beale as the love-torn trio.

With the play being a favorite among many in the group, we were delighted to select this as our first offering for 2018.

Rehearsals start next Wednesday and tickets will be available for you to book and reserve online, by email or telephone in the New Year.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came along to the casting event and if it was your first time coming along to meet us, we do hope that you will return and try out again next time.

THE DEEP BLUE SEA will run at The Alexandra Hall from Wednesday 14th – Saturday 17th February 2018.
